The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office (CCCSO) offers a Concealed Handgun Firearms Safety Training that fully complies with the new training requirements outlined in Colorado House Bill 24-1174. This course and applying for a new or renewal permit are separate processes and have separate fees.
The cost is $150 for a New Permit course and $75 for a Renewal Permit course. Participants must provide their own firearm, ammunition, and eye/ear protection; targets will be supplied. Training will take place within Clear Creek County, with full details provided following registration and payment.
The next New Permit Firearms Safety Course is Saturday, November 8 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. A Renewal Permit Refresher Course will be held the same day from 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm. Deadline to register for the trainings is Sunday, November 2. The trainings will likely be held at the Dumont range, 3400 Stanley Road; location will be confirmed with participants in advance of the training.
Class size is limited to 15 participants for the new permit class and 10 participants for the renewal class. A short waitlist for both Renewal and New Permits will be created if demand exceeds capacity. If placed on the waitlist, you will be notified if a spot becomes available. Please note class requirements:
* You may not have any legal restrictions prohibiting you from purchasing or possessing a firearm.
* We will complete a background check.
* A signed waiver will be required to be returned prior to the course.
* Upon registration and approval, you will receive additional information about course logistics and requirements.
