IMPORTANT TANF UPDATE:
Colorado has received a new federal directive from the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) concerning Colorado’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, also known as Colorado Works, and the Social Services Block Grant (SSBG). We know this may cause concern, so here is what you need to know right now:
- ACF is initiating a review of TANF State Plan for “completeness and for program compliance with applicable laws.”
- Colorado Works supports programs about self-sufficiency, including basic cash assistance to households.
- SSBG funds are used to provide a broad range of services for vulnerable Coloradans, including child welfare services.
- While they conduct their investigation, ACF is pausing the flow of dollars to Colorado for TANF and SSBG funds.
- There is no change to your eligibility or the amount of benefits you receive today.
- You do not need to do anything right now. You do not need to take action, but you should be aware of the situation and try to budget January benefits carefully in case there is a future disruption to Basic Cash Assistance (BCA).
We will provide updates as soon as more information is available. Please stay tuned to our official channels for more details.

- Child protection services are provided to protect children whose physical, mental or emotional wellbeing is threatened by the actions or omissions of parents, legal guardians, custodians or persons responsible for providing our of home care.
Adult Protection

Collaborative Management Program and Family Engagement Meetings
WHAT IS THE COLLABORATIVE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM(CMP)?
The Collaborative Management Program was created to help children and families who are involved in several agencies and require a multi-agency service plan to focus on the family’s needs and goals. The partner agencies of the CMP work together to meet these needs and goals by participating in Family Engagement Meetings.
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT MEETING (FEM)
The Family Engagement Meeting is a collaboration with families and professionals who have different areas of expertise. All partners come together to support children/youth and their families who may be involved with DHS, school, youth services, probation, the courts, mental health, or domestic violence agencies. The Family Engagement Meeting focuses on the family’s strengths to provide resources, services, and supports to help meet the family’s goals.
WHAT HAPPENS AT FEM?
The FEM format strives to ensure youth and family strengths are considered in the development of all services and that the families are full participants in identifying resources and services that best work for them.
FEM GOALS
- Family Voice and Choice
- Brainstorm solutions
- To provide a positive outcome for the families that we serve
- To provide one coordinated service plan
- To cost-share among agencies to make sure families have the resources and support they need to be successful
- The FEM is a family’s village to support them in reaching their goal
